After a lot of months preparations and twice more of months hard work, I'm glad to present our new Service. It's called TheBOX.
It includes everything you can think of - but the most important (at least we think so) is the included subscription service which allows timed access to ALL premium content in our site.

Just a side note - we are far from ready with the site customization, there is a long to do list with new site features and updates (see the Site Roadmap page for more information) which will be made on a daily basis. So come back every day, you'll not be disappointed.

Last week, SourceForge began accepting nominations for their fourth annual Community Choice Awards. They are accepting nominations until May 29th, and the ten projects with the most nominations in each category ill become their finalists.

We are glad to announce our new Free-Source.net Store running now on Magento Commerce. After a couple of years with ZenCart we have successfully switched our e107 Premium Themes Store to Magento.

The theme is created by CorlleteLab Web Design Studio - the company behind Free-Source.net. There are no core changes - only some PayPal IPN module overrides to prevent kids using stolen PayPal accounts to play around with. The home page is fully customizable via theme template files (No code in CMS custom page), custom blocks etc. We plan to release some Magento themes and e107 plugins in the next months and of course, lots of e107 Premium Themes - just stay tuned.

With the new store system you'll be able to compare products, add them to your wishlist, have a more flexible order history, browse by certain filters, keep your personal information more secure etc. All existing customers (with at least one order) are also transferred to the new system. I'm more than pleased to introduce you our newest (and very valuable) team member - roofdog.
Brief info in case you didn't heard about him (shame on you :) ) - he is the owner of XenThemes.com and actually the most progressive e107 theme developer around. I'm glad he accepted our invitation. I believe he'll help us in breaking some more design and development rules and of course delivering better free and premium services to our ever growing community.

With this additional fuel in our engine, we've found a time to start the FS site transformations, planned a long time ago. The result will be seen soon. I'll leave the community to decide if it deserves the effort.

After couple news posts on Free-Source.net and E107.org about the new version of e107 many people have asked us when our themes and plugins will be updated to the upcoming new version. Here is our answer. In the past 3 years we've tried to convince the community that we definitely take care of our members, customers and the whole community giving them newer versions of themes, plugins and quality support. e107 version 0.8 is important to us as we are putting a lot of work, time and effort in there, so we'll take care about our plugins and themes (premium and free) in any case. Meanwhile we are slo preparing some great new services at Free-Source.net. However, they are planned to be up and running in the same day of v0.8 release.

Every second question in our email box is:

"If I buy one of your premium e107 themes, or download one of your free e107 themes how can i be sure that this theme will be supported when 107 v0.8 is out?"

The answer:

"Every premium and free theme will be updated to the latest version of e107. We consider this as one of the most important things for us.".

Оf course you should not expect to see this happen in the same day of the official release of 107 v0.8., it'll take a while. The update process will be started just after first beta 0.8 version is out (it's lot of work and I hope you'll have patience and understanding).

So you can be sure that our services and products will stay up to date. As SecretR mentioned in his previous post "Hopefully we'll celebrate all together soon."

Most of you probably noticed that it's a bit unusually quiet around. This is exactly the reason I'm writing this - I feel I need to explain why it's so.

The truth is - it's not so quiet at all. You are in the middle of a storm of changes, and I mean not only FS net related, but e107 generic as well. We are preparing the 0.8 e107 release, which will lead our community to a new level of user experience. I'm really talking about huge innovations and system improvements.

As always, we'll try to provide you the edge e107 technologies on free-source.net - you'll see things you might think are impossible to achieve with e107 or any other open-source Content Management System. We currently experiencing some in/out network issues through power shortage in the data center where the server is located. Also we have some mail server issues. On Saturday, May 31st at 4:55pm CDT in the "The Planet H1 Data Center" where our server is located, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding their electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost. You can read more about at:
