when I go to my gallery link and it displays the categories it is the correct size, then i click the thumbnail to go into the desired gallery and it exceeds the width. Which file do I modify in order to correct this? your help is much appreciated.

Add a style for gallery main container <div id="sgallery"> and/or copy gallery templates to your theme and edit them and/or add entry for sgallery in your theme tablestyle function. I thinks it's theme issue.
