• Hit the CL Widgets install button

e107 v0.8 compatibility mod?

I think this is the most interesting feature at this time. If enabled, this mod will create an environment almost identical to the new e107 v0.8 A short list of 0.8 features which are ported to the system:

• JS API
• New core JS widgets (tabs, admin, decorate)
• Shortcode Handler
• Form Handler
• e107 Handler (only small extension)
• Message Handler
• Cache handler
• JSON compatible handler
• front-end 0.8 compatible stylesheet (controlled by plugin preference)
• back-end 0.8 compatible stylesheet (controlled by plugin preference)
• Icons
• Admin images

All widgets and external plugins are able to use 0.8 libraries, so this would be a good starting point for all plugin and theme developers to prepare for the upcoming e107 major version.

What it's all about?

CL Widgets was born to satisfy certain needs of our commercial projects

• More interractive site designs
• Friendly Javascript environment (Prototype framework)
• Full controll over system loaded javascript
• Javascript server compression (gzip) and consolidation (one only meta script tag)
• Control of javascript options via UI (back-end)
• Quick and performance wise way to accomplish everyday tasks

A bit later after CL Widgets was created, I found out that it's suitable for much more complex tasks than I thought.

Why Prototype JS framework?

Because the more I'm working with it, the more I love it. Prototype is an extremely powerful low-level tool when in proper hands. It's under heavy development, coding in Prototype envirnment is a fun. At last but not at least it keeps me away of all new born/older browser quirks. However, the most important part is - Prototype is the official supported e107 v0.8 JS framework. This means all widgets will still work proper after CL Widgets is ported to work with e107 v0.8
